Despite significant progress driven in the past century, we still live in a world of inequalities. Some individuals and communities continue to be marginalized and discriminated against, based on their gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, financial resources or culture. From a global perspective, some countries have been unequally hit by climate change which was historically caused by richer countries. Inequalities are a real burden on society: not only are they wrong ethically, but they also prevent humanity from thriving to its full extent. As global issues have become increasingly complex, unleashing the power of diversity would help us live up to the challenge.
#YAS22 will highlight the great need for solidarity across social, racial, cultural groups, towards minorities, and encourage everyone to stand up for other people’s rights.
