The COVID-19 lockdown was a hard blow for the Swiss exhibition and event industry. Now things are beginning to look up again: With its real showroom RELOADING LIVE, MCH Group presented how live events can proceed responsibly and safely in the future, in light of the gradual easing of the restrictions.

Reloading Live: Ready for successful and safe events

In recent months, MCH Group has been able to demonstrate that it is able to implement events as holistic concepts in a digital space. Nevertheless, live events remain immensely important. We are in the starting blocks for the next phase and are ready for the relaunch. We look forward to organising live events in Switzerland again soon.

Taking into account the current recommendations of the Federal Office of Public Health, the MCH Group has drawn up a comprehensive set of precautionary measures for this relaunch. The MCH Group accept its responsibility as an important part of the Swiss event industry and is developing innovative concepts for sustainable live events – solutions that are easy to implement and can be adapted to individual customer requirements.


A real showcase of future live events

In order to make these concepts and the wide range of measures come alive, MCH Group has created a showroom at Messe Basel together with the design fair blickfang, Wassermann (Catering), Almedica (hygiene monitoring & hygiene safety), livealytics (analytics and benchmarking) and other partners.

Within the showroom, MCH Group created a tour that fully depicted the live event, taking into account the currently necessary protective measures. Registration in the run-up to the event, admission control on site, the construction and experience of exhibition and information stands or a visit to the catering area were all part of the showroom, which approximately 600 guests experienced. The feedback was very positive.


Safely and efficiently through the event with digital support

To ensure you can safely take part in live events and still get the most out of your participation as a visitor or your presence as an exhibitor, we are currently expanding our digital offer and adjust it to the conditions during the COVID-19 period.


Particularly in the event sector, a combined use of the physical and digital channels has the potential to create an even better overall experience.

The extensions, which are currently being implemented and will be available soon, cover the areas of ticketing, digital event participation as well as preparation and follow-up of the event. Due to the restrictions it is especially important to control visitor flows. Therefore, when buying tickets for larger live events, visitors have to choose a time slot at which they want to attend the event. This avoids large crowds and at the same time minimizes unpleasant waiting times. As an exhibitor, you have the advantage that your staff on site is more evenly utilized allowing you to reach a large number of potential customers despite the restrictions in force.

Some parts of the program of a live event may be tied to specific times. To ensure that the largest possible number of visitors can still benefit from the offer, we can make such content available to all visitors in the form of video recordings or streaming – regardless of whether they are on site or not. In order to give visitors the opportunity to get the most out of the live event and digital offers, they are given the opportunity to put together their own agenda before the visit, which includes both digital and live offers, to ensure they don’t miss anything. They will also have the opportunity to make appointments with individual exhibitors in advance of the visit.
