The Seventh Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP-7) is a key international gathering dedicated to strengthening global efforts to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of mercury. The meeting brings together Parties to the Convention, observers, international organizations, and stakeholders to review progress and advance implementation of the treaty.
At COP-7, participants will consider a range of agenda items related to the control of mercury supply and trade, reduction of mercury emissions and releases, management of mercury-added products and processes, waste handling, and technical and financial assistance. The meeting also provides a forum for reviewing effectiveness, adopting decisions, and enhancing cooperation among Parties.
Adopted in 2013, the Minamata Convention on Mercury is a global environmental agreement addressing mercury throughout its life cycle. The outcomes of COP-7 contribute to reinforcing international commitments, supporting national implementation, and advancing coordinated global action to reduce mercury pollution and its impacts on ecosystems and public health.
