SwissTech Convention Center
Winner of the 2016 and 2019 “Best Convention Center” Award, the SwissTech Convention Center is an iconic facility offering conference delegates from around the world the opportunity to meet differently. Located at the heart of Europe, on the shores of Lake Geneva, against the backdrop of a spectacular mountain setting, its venue is both idyllic and accessible.
Opened in 2014 and characterized by its unique design and Gala technology, this large, modular, ultramodern building is flexible and scalable.
With a total capacity of 3,000 seats and fully modular meeting rooms, the SwissTech easily meets the future needs of international congress organizers for maximum event openness and simultaneity. Nestled on the Swiss technical university campus of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), the SwissTech is the ideal place to discuss cutting-edge research.
Where people meet ideas
The SwissTech Convention Center is comprised of three levels: Each of the three floors has its own unique atmosphere. The Campus level can accommodate up to 2,200 people and is the perfect venue for large events: conventions, assemblies, banquets. The seating pattern allows each participant to feel near the speaker regardless of where they are seated. Auditorium C on the Cloud level, with a capacity of 456 seats, has a reception area overlooking the main entrance hall. With an integrated bar for coffee breaks or cocktails, the Cloud is the perfect space for exclusive gatherings.
On the Garden level, a space of almost 4,000sqm can be configured to accommodate break-out rooms, exhibitions and workshops. The sliding walls are used to create up to 17 zones, with capacities ranging from 30 to 500 seats.
The SwissTech can be conveniently reached by public transportation – train and metro – from the Geneva International airport in less than one hour, the metro station being in front of our door. And right next to it there is a hotel, food stores, a hairdresser, phone store, a medical center and a pharmacy.
With the construction of the SwissTech Convention Center, the EPFL has taken this commitment one step further, incorporating renewable energies in the most efficient way possible: water from Lake Geneva and geothermal pillars supporting the structure of the building are used for heating and cooling; and Grätzel photovoltaic panels on the western facade of the building simultaneously produce electricity and prevent the inside of the center from overheating.
Science and more
The SwissTech Convention Center is the only conference center located on a worldclass technical and scientific university campus. Organizers can invite speakers from the university to participate in events and participants can set up meetings with EPFL staff and professors and visit the EPFL campus and the Innovation Park, home to over 100 start-ups.
This also permits for a unique opportunity for knowledge transfer between the organizing company and attendees at these events, conferences, or product launches together with events in EPFL education and research sectors.
We would love to host your event in our fully automated convention center. Let us help you make your event spectacularly good!
