Implementation Committee (Espoo Convention), 69th Session is an international environmental policy meeting dedicated to strengthening the implementation and compliance of the Espoo Convention. The convention establishes obligations for countries to assess the environmental impacts of certain proposed activities that may cause significant adverse transboundary effects and to cooperate with potentially affected countries.

Key topics include transboundary environmental impact assessment (EIA), environmental impact assessment procedures, public participation, international consultation, environmental monitoring, compliance mechanisms, environmental governance, and cross-border cooperation. The Implementation Committee examines implementation issues and helps promote consistent application of the Convention’s requirements.

The 69th Session of the Implementation Committee provides a platform for countries and environmental experts to discuss practical and legal challenges, exchange experiences, and identify ways to strengthen national implementation. The committee’s work contributes to greater transparency, accountability, and cooperation in environmental decision-making where projects may have impacts across national borders.
