Securing a long-term electricity supply, ensuring fair and ideally low prices for end consumers and businesses, decarbonizing the energy system, implementing the new electricity law, establishing a stable foundation for cooperation with the EU in the electricity sector, and accelerating the expansion and modernization of production and grids – the expectations placed on the Swiss energy sector are high, and the tasks are manifold. The gap to the desired target state is often larger and, above all, more complex than we realize. Only by taking significant steps together will we get closer to our goals. The challenge lies in the fact that the problems cannot be solved in isolation or sequentially – they are interconnected and can only be tackled through collaboration. If we try to bridge one gap after another, we risk falling into it sooner or later. Instead, we must build bridges together: viable solutions that move us forward step by step. But how do we find a path that everyone can keep up with and that enables a secure supply, sustainability, and affordable prices for all?
A time of upheaval like the one we are currently experiencing is characterized by uncertainty. We face a choice: Do we merely close the smallest gaps and fulfill only the bare minimum to comply with regulations? Or do we take significant leaps and proactively use these changes to establish a visionary energy system? We have the opportunity to become the pioneers of our time. For this, we need an understanding of the bigger picture, a long-term strategy, a willingness to collaborate across old divides, and the courage to forge new paths.
