The Congress Center Basel is Switzerland’s largest conference centre, located directly alongside Messe Basel. The two venues belong to the dynamic MCH Group, an international experience-marketing company group with a unique services network. Together they offer five generously-dimensioned halls and 25 modern conference rooms covering an overall surface area of 141,000 m², which is unique by Swiss standards.
Basel is Switzerland’s prime location for exhibitions and conferences, with state-of-theart infrastructure. Its internationally famous events include Art Basel, the world’s leading fair for modern and contemporary art.
The city of Basel is a major player in the life sciences. It is home to numerous biotech companies, and the pharmaceutical companies around Basel are constantly expanding. Basel offers a unique concentration of innovative companies, an open-minded culture, an international environment and Switzerland’s oldest university.
Modern infrastructure designed by Herzog & de Meuron
The Congress Center Basel is located in the heart of the city, next to Messe Basel – just a short walk away from numerous hotels. The exhibition complex by architects Herzog & de Meuron marks the perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics. This modern building with its multifunctional Event Hall on the ground floor has a footbridge to the Congress Center Basel.
With a pillar-free surface of some 3,300 sqm, plus 1,000 sqm in the foyer, the Event Hall holds events for up to 3,000 people and banquets for up to 2,000.
A further 11 modular rooms considerably expand the Congress Center Basel’s facilities. Used individually or in combination, they accommodate events for 10 to 1,000 people. The modular rooms are on the ground floor and directly accessible from the Congress Center’s main entrance. In addition to a plenary event with over 6,000 participants, sufficient space is available in the immediate vicinity for concurrent breakout sessions.
ESOC, AMEE and DGHO 2024
In 2024, there are three main occasions when the Congress Center Basel is able to demonstrate its suitability for larger events: At the European Stroke Organization Conference (ESOC), some 4,000 participants will be welcomed to Exhibition Square, while for the Annual Meeting of the German, Austrian and Swiss Societies for Haematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO) the figure is 4,200 and for the annual conference of the Association for Medical Education Europe (AMEE) it is 3,500.
A dependable, safe and secure place to be
Basel has many qualities in its favour. This Swiss city bordering on three countries offers outstanding political and economic stability plus ideal international travel links and extensive public transport.
