The seventy-first session of the Commission will take place as an in-person meeting on 9 and 10 April 2025 in Geneva, at the Palais des Nations. In a decision taken at the 134th meeting of the Executive Committee on 1 July 2024,
– acknowledging that international cooperation for climate action is necessary to address multiple sustainable development challenges,
– recognizing that appropriate risk management and increased resilience in infrastructure is essential for future economic development, and
– recognizing also that infrastructure development contributes to better connectivity within the UNECE region, UNECE member States designated “Climate action and resilient infrastructure for a sustainable future” as the cross-cutting theme for the high-level segment of the session.
The session will gather ministers and deputy ministers from the UNECE region and provide member States with an opportunity to:
- Exchange experiences related to the cross-cutting theme
- Share success stories, identify knowledge gaps and areas for further action
- Consider issues of importance for the economic integration and cooperation among the countries of the region
- Review the progress of the Commission’s activities.
Additional information will be posted in the lead up to the session.
