Kongresshaus Zürich AG (Zurich Convention Center Ltd.) has appointed Giedo Veenstra as Chief Culinary Officer on the Executive Board. Veenstra, who is originally from the Netherlands, will be responsible for the catering sector from July 1, 2020, thus completing the four-member management team with Director / CEO Roger Büchel.
Giedo-Veenstra
Culinary specialist Giedo Veenstra has already helped shape the new opening of The Dolder Grand in Zurich and has worked in various luxury hotels in Switzerland and abroad. In addition to his know-how with new openings, the highly trained restaurateur brings with him a wealth of experience in managing large catering organisations. Most recently, he was Managing Director of EVZ Gastro AG in Zug, where he helped to shape the gastronomy in the newly built BOSSARD Arena. During his 10 years there, the portfolio was expanded under his leadership with the Fondue Chalet Zug, Kolins Kitchen im Freiruum and Blueline Catering & Events. Furthermore, he was entirely responsible for the overall commitment to the Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival 2019, the largest sporting event in Switzerland.
Completion of the management team
“With Giedo Veenstra, we are gaining an experienced leader from the national and international catering industry. I am very pleased to prepare the reopening in March 2021 with the now complete management team alongside Markus Schiedeck (Chief Customer Officer) and Holger Syhre (Chief Operating Officer)”, says Director / CEO Roger Büchel. The high expectations of our national and international customers, but also of the Zurich residents, are to be exceeded.
Its proximity to the world-famous Zurich Bahnhofstrasse and the view over Lake Zurich to the Swiss Alps make the Kongresshaus Zurich an unforgettable meeting venue. International science or medical congresses, conferences of associations and large companies as well as general meetings, company presentations, road shows or exhibitions, but also business meetings and conventions and cultural events are held here. Company directors, start-up entrepreneurs and small shareholders are regular visitors in the convention centre.
The public limited company Kongresshaus Zürich AG is an unlisted public company with over 1,000 shareholders.
As a result of the renovation of the heritage building, the Kongresshaus Zurich ceased operations in summer 2017 and will reopen in March 2021.
