The General Assembly of our Society in 2021 has decided to change the name from Swiss Society for Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation (SSAR) to Swiss Society for Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (SSAPM). The Congress Committee of the SSAPM is therefore very pleased to invite you to the upcoming congress, which will be held in Interlaken from 03 to 05 November 2022. This congress will be organised jointly ith the Swiss Association for Anaesthesia Nursing (SIGA/FSIA). We are very optimistic that this second face-to-face congress after the Covid 19 pandemic will provide a unique opportunity to re-establish personal contacts and scientificindustrial networking as an important aspect of our annual meetings. It is my great pleasure to give you a brief overview of the preliminary program. On Thursday morning, you are invited to participate in exciting refresher courses on relevant topics in perioperative safety and pain management. An interesting workshop on different aspects of A-Cert and SSAPM quality strategy will also be offered. Satellite meetings of SARA, SACTA, ASOBA, SGKA-SSAP and SAOA will be held in the afternoon. The interactive pain symposium will address current topics in pain medicine. There will also be a full-day workshop on important aspects of perioperative medicine. In the evening, an awards ceremony will honour the best clinical research papers and publications. On Friday, excellent national and international speakers will share their insights on the topic of «Patient Safety in Perioperative Medicine». We would like to focus on the following main topics: 1) extremes of age, 2) concepts of safe perioperative care, and 3) impact of new technologies on patient safety. In addition to the keynote lectures mentioned above, nursing-oriented workshops will be offered. The SSAPM and SIGA/FSIA general meetings will be held on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The languages of the General Assemblies will continue to be German and French. All members are cordially invited. On Saturday, we will offer attractive workshops covering knowledge and skills in perioperative clinical monitoring practice, basic life support, and ultrasound-guided diagnosis. Exciting symposia will also cover aspects of leadership. Highlights of the social program include a networking event on Thursday evening in the industrial exhibition and the congress evening on Friday starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Restaurant Spice India in Interlaken. We are convinced that the broad program of SwissAnaesthesia 2022 will arouse your interest. We look forward to welcome you in Interlaken and hope that you will come in large numbers to share experiences and participate in discussions stimulated by interesting lectures and workshops. I would also like to acknowledge the commitment of our industry partners, whose annual industry exhibitions and symposia complement and round out the program. My SSAPM and SIGA/FSIA colleagues on the Congress Committee and the BBS Congress team have also contributed their spirit, support and expertise – factors that are essential to a successful Congress. I would like to thank all of them for their valuable contributions.
