How technologies and sustainability are changing logistics and SCM – This year’s Logistics Forum of the Association Network Logistics (VNL) focused on sustainability, decarbonization and efficiency. Experts from science, education, research and industry discussed current developments and challenges in logistics.

The appropriate overture was provided by Prof. Kirchschläger from the University of Lucerne on AI and human rights and Oliver Nahon from the Swiss Society for Autonomous Mobility (SAAM), who highlighted the importance of autonomous driving, especially in urban logistics.

Thanks to our co-organizers from the Brabender Group, the ILS, Logistikum Schweiz, procure.ch and Swiss Logistics, we were able to offer the approximately 100 registered participants a broad portfolio. Under the umbrella theme “Changing working environments – How technologies and sustainability are changing logistics and SCM”, topics on circular economic systems, transport, construction logistics, storage systems, purchasing and training and further education were examined by around 25 experts in six moderated sessions.

Finally, the importance of sustainability and decarbonization was highlighted in a panel discussion. It was emphasized how important it is to promote young talent in logistics in order to overcome the shortage of skilled workers and to make logistics more environmentally friendly and efficient.

On the subject of the shortage of skilled workers, the VNL presented the SWISS SUPPLY initiative “Movement`32”.
