Pediatric Emergency Medicine Switzerland, short PEMS, is a society engaged in and promoting pediatric emergency medicine (PEM). It was founded on Nov 5th, 2010 in Fribourg, Switzerland. The society evolved from a working group convened by the SGP to evaluate a proposal for a nationally recognised certificate in PEM in Switzerland. The working group comprised representatives from all three linguistic regions of Switzerland, thus its members made use of this network to call into life a society to represent the interests of PEM and its practitioners. On 1st December 2017 pediatric emergency medicine physicians (PEMS) and pediatric emergency nurses (PEN-S) united to one society, the PEMS.
