Landscapes change in the interaction between people and the environment. They are changed by our actions. At the same time, they also change us: how we live, work and think. In view of climate change, dwindling biodiversity, questions about food and energy security, global economic networking and demographic change, numerous demands are now being placed on the landscape: it should preserve the quality of our living space, enable regionally diverse spatial development and context-sensitive architecture. It should contribute to the economy, provide work and recreation and enable sustainable use of resources. The search for locally adapted solutions proves to be complex in practice, as the different demands often compete with one another.
